Clearing misconceptions about alkasir
Ever since alkasir was first launched in May 2009, several misconceptions developed. Here we try to clarify the facts about alkasir.
What alkasir is :
alkasir is a freeware software product that could run on MS Windows
alkasir is part of a server-client combined and integrated environment that requires the Internet and Net Framework 2.0 or higher to operate
alkasir is mainly intended to allow access to some blocked URLs that contain content that raise people's awareness of domestic, international issues
alkasir is an independent project and is not affiliated to any government or institution
alkasir started as a self-financed project by its founder but may receive extra support in the form of donations provided they do not affect its mission
What alkasir does:
alkasir uses advanced technological means to almost guarantee that users will always access blocked websites (through its public/private proxy servers)
alkasir tracks the status of censorship for various URLs around the world to ensure that the lists of blocked URLs stay up to date
alkasir is used by the developers to study patterns of censorship and use of its functions globally and in individual countries
What alkasir does NOT do:
unlike other popular circumvention programs, alkasir does not act as a complete circumvention solution. It only allows access to certain blocked websites.
alkasir is not concerned with anonymity. There are other programs/solutions to do that. Its aim is to grant you access to some blocked websites.
alkasir does not store or use IP addresses of its users and any collection of statistics is only done for non-commercial research purposes.

does not have a political orientation and does not promote
dissidence, separatism, violence and other forms of disobedience
against states!
